Siobhán Sheridan joined the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in July 2017 as director, civilian human resources. She is responsible for a workforce of 57,000 civil servants doing vital work in the MoD alongside their military colleagues.
Sheridan joined the MoD from the NSPCC, where she was people director and had the great opportunity to work with all of the staff and volunteers that help the NSPCC and Childline to play their vital role in protecting children and young people, preventing abuse and enabling societal change.
At the MoD she has taken on responsibility for diversity and inclusion across Defence and also the role of social mobility champion, a subject close to her heart as a 16-year-old school leaver herself.
Prior to this, Sheridan had a career in both the private and the public sector, including roles in Defra, DWP and in the financial services industry. She has worked in a variety of operational leadership and HR roles in the UK, US, and partnered to developing businesses in Europe.
Sheridan is a chartered fellow of the FCIPD and a member of the Guild of HR Professionals. A lifelong student, she holds an MA in Coaching and Mentoring and an MSC in Organisational Change, and is currently studying for a PhD. In addition to her role in the MoD, Sheridan is a committed volunteer with Crisis at Christmas.
